The 1992 motion movie that starred Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren is the most recent movie franchise to get the massive Hollywood reboot. The film is at the moment being written by Richard Wenk, the screenwriter of The Equalizer. He introduced the information himself throughout an interview with Discussing Movie saying:
“I’ll say that I’m simply ending up a re-imagining — let’s be clear about this it’s not a remake and it isn’t a redo — however it’s a re-imagining of a film known as ‘Common Soldier’…very very similar to ‘The Equalizer,’ it’s the title that impressed me and never the flicks…I’m nearly to complete (the script) and switch it on this week.”
I like how he has to make a degree to say that his challenge is a “re-imagining”. However, everyone knows that no matter what he needs us to name it, the film is a reboot of an older movie.
The report goes on to say that “though the unique options two essential characters, the re-imagining will solely function a sole solider.” The movie is being produced by Todd Black and Jason Blumenthal and the script is about to be turned in subsequent week.
The challenge continues to be within the early phases of improvement, however someday we would truly see a brand new Common Soldier movie on the massive display screen.
I loved The Equalizer movies. They have been fairly badass, so if Wenk can convey that stable screenwriting and badassery to a reboot of Common Soldier… cool!
Common Soldier spawned just a few sequels that included Common Soldier: The Return, Common Soldier: Regeneration and Common Soldier: Day of Reckoning. This franchise has a loyal fanbase and I’ll be concerned with seeing how they react to the information that the franchise is getting a reboot.
